Welcome to the Second Baptist Church Discipleship Ministry. The mission of the Discipleship Ministry is . . . “to receive, embrace and strengthen believers at SBC to become fully committed, fully active, fully empowered disciples of Jesus Christ!” The members of the Discipleship Ministry stand ready to assist you in any way we can as you settle into your new home here at SBC and prepare to join us in the Lord’s service. Matthew 28:18-20

3 Keys for Successful Discipleship:

1. Be INTENTIONAL—Jesus was the greatest coach in history! His role was to develop players, but more importantly coach. His intentionality prepared His followers to go and make disciples. Ephesians 4:11-13

2. Create a RELATIONAL ENVIRONMENT—Jesus did his disciple-making in a relational environment. An environment where real teaching, shepherding, transparency, accountability, and guided practice can be fostered. Jesus sent His disciples out by two’s because together they could encourage one another and help keep each other safe spiritually. Mark 6:7

3. Create a REPRODUCIBLE PROCESS—Jesus followed a process that can be learned and repeated. He shared the truth that He was the Messiah and extended an invitation to connect with Him - “Come with me” - or maybe better understood—”Come be with me.” A disciple knows and follows Christ, is being changed by Christ and is committed to the mission of Christ. Matthew 4:19
